Tel Aviv is one of the most progressive and popular vacation spots within Israel. With plenty of beautiful places to go during the day, and activity that never stops at night, you’ll find countless things to do here!
(1) Surf and swim:
Because of its gorgeous beaches, Tel Aviv is a popular coastal city and even one of the most frequented hot spots in the entire Mediterranean region.
In the northern region you can visit Hilton Beach, Gordon Beach, and Frishman Beach. In the south you can visit the Drums Beach, where there are drum circles every night at sunset.
(2) Go dancing:
Tel Aviv is now known as the “city that never stops” thanks to its thriving nightclubs. The night life in Tel Aviv begins late — most people begin their night at about 11 pm. The busiest time in bars and clubs is around 2 am. Most do not close until early morning!
(3) Attend a sporting event:
Here you’ll find the Maccabi Tel Aviv, which is the biggest sporting club in all of Israel. It runs a variety of different sporting teams and events within Tel Aviv, including football, swimming, and judo.
The Maccabi Tel Aviv basketball team is considered to be one of the best outside of the United States.
(4) Gape at the skyscrapers:
The architecture in Tel Aviv is really cool. You find tall, modern, streamlined skyscrapers built right alongside the Bauhaus buildings designed by Jewish architects who fled from Europe in the 1930s. Make sure to visit the White City, which is a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site and contains the world’s largest concentration of modernist-style buildings.
(5) Shop-till-you-drop:
Tel Aviv is home to many popular shopping malls. You’ll also find the bustling HaCarmel market — an outdoor street market that is always packed with both merchants and shoppers.
(6) Participate in a squirt-gun fight:
Every year in the month of July the Rabin Square becomes the home of an enormous water fight! Hundreds participate, filling up their water guns, buckets, bottles, and bags at the square’s fountain.
(7) Dine outdoors:
Many wonderful restaurants are located in Jaffa along the city’s waterfront. You can find several kosher restaurants, including a seafood restaurant and a French restaurant.
(8) Visit Ramses II’s Gate Garden:
In the park area of Old Jaffa you’ll find an amazing ancient artifact. It’s a gate inscribed with Egyptian hieroglyphics, and it dates all the way back to when Ramses II was pharaoh, around 1200 BCE.
(9) Stroll through the Rubin Museum:
What was formerly the home of artist Reuven Rubin has been converted into an art museum in Tel Aviv. The museum consists of four floors, which include a children’s workshop, the main gallery with a museum shop, and Rubin’s own studio preserved as it was during his lifetime.
(10) Take in a show at the Tel Aviv Performing Arts Centre (TAPAC):
Home to both the New Israeli Opera Company and the Israeli Ballet, you can catch an array of performance arts here. Various international festivals take place here as well, and it is also a great place to see other traveling troupes from around the world.
